Lorna has worked in advertising agencies in Chicago, San Francisco and Reno, Nevada including Ogilvy & Mather, J. Walter Thompson, Foote, Cone & Belding and the Rose/Glenn Group. Her experience encompasses retail, tourism, financial services and consumer packaged goods. As a marketing consultant, Lorna provides the strategic oversight needed to define a company’s brand, conduct market and costumer research and develop, then implement, marketing communications plans.
Without a clearly defined brand, no marketing communications will achieve maximum effectiveness. Uncovering its truly distinctive brand positioning will allow a company to compete in their market and win the hearts and minds of its customers. Lorna has worked with a dozens of companies to identify their brand positionings and has learned how to go about it so it isn’t difficult or expensive, but so that it is uniting and lasting.
Research is an amazing thing… When it is translated so that people understand its implications. Whether it’s an advertising awareness survey, an image perception survey or research to determine a product’s potential, Lorna can identify the type of research required (primary, secondary, quantitative or qualitative) and manage the research so objectives are set and met. Even more important is taking research to the next level of specific marketing actions. Most valuable is Lorna’s ability to present results that are understandable and clearly detail the implications for how a client conducts its business and how it crafts its marketing and advertising programs. What a concept: research that translates into actionable strategies that companies can actually use.
All that research, but how do you translate it into a communications plan? Culling through the information to identify measurable communications objectives and the strategies that will accomplish the objectives is something Lorna has done throughout her career for big, sophisticated marketers and smaller companies new to advertising. And rather than pulling a consultant’s disappearing act once the plan is approved, Lorna can assist in implementing the plan: whether it requires identifying and overseeing the best freelance writers, designers and media buyers, working with a client’s traditional advertising agency or with a company’s internal team.
